Star-Wars-Galaxys-Edge

For the longest time, it feels like Disney has been building one of their largest expansions to the Disney parks ever – Stars Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This expansion is happening simultaneously at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. We will focus on Walt Disney World in Florida.

So, when does it open? We’ve heard the slated date of opening is “Fall 2019,” which could be anywhere between September 2019-December 2019. One thing is for sure- it will be busy! There are so many Disney Parks fans that will want to enjoy the land, but also just Star Wars fans, in general, will more than likely be booking trips to Walt Disney World for this specific attraction.

What will Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge be like?

Stars Wars land is promised to be one of the most immersive lands that Disney has ever built. For comparison, if you’ve been to Pandora inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, you’ve experienced feeling like you are in another land that is nothing like in your current world. For Star Wars Land, it is promised to be even bigger and more immersive than Pandora. As far as putting it into words, I’ll have to venture out to Disney in the future to adequately do this for you.

The expansion is on the planet called Batuu, which is located at the Galaxy’s Edge (hence the name of the land) and the village that you will embark upon (with the restaurants, rides, and shopping) is called Black Spire Outpost. In this bustling village, you are expected to see cast members walking around in full Star Wars garb, which based on pictures of these costumes, will truly feel like you are on the set of the movie Star Wars. Much different than the costumes that regular cast members wear around the parks like in Toy Story Land, or even in Pandora. Based on the images I’ve seen already, you will truly feel like you’ve landed on another planet. (I cannot wait)

What is there to do at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?

For starters, this land will be so large, that it will take you a while to just take in all the sights around you. You can get lost in just people watching and exploring this new planet. In addition to looking at the architecture of the buildings and the trees and rocks that form the natural-looking landscape, you will be able to experience two major ride attractions, restaurants, and shopping.

The Rides at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

The two major ride attractions added to Galaxy’s Edge are Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set to be an attraction that sort of acts like 4 attractions in one-concluding with a trackless dark ride at the very end. It is based on an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order. The attraction is also boasted to be Disney’s longest attraction created as well. I thought Splash Mountain or Carousel of Progress was long (just under 11 minutes for Splash and like 21 minutes for Carousel of Progress) – what is this ride going to be like? Holy Cow I’m excited!

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will be an attraction where you will sit in individual seats and each has a role in piloting the Millennium Falcon aircraft each ride experience is said to be different because it is based on how well you piloted the aircraft.  Imagine an amped-up version of Star Tours with an interactive screen and simulations. There is supposed to be technology (rumored) that will link to your Magic Band that tracks if you accomplished or failed the mission – so that cast members inside Black Spire Outpost will be able to engage with you and ask you about it. What? That seems like so much fun!

What about food at Galaxy’s Edge?

There will be several different options (fast-casual, quick service) to choose from, but it is promised to have unique and tantalizing flavors that are out of this world- well because they are- you are on another planet.

There will be the main quick service location, called Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. You will also be able to buy food and drinks from multiple window service locations and kiosks/carts.

Galaxy’s Edge Merchandise?

Yep, there will be a lot of merchandise located in Black Spire Outpost- anything from plush toys, to unique trinkets that make you feel like you landed on another planet and found something so unique, it could not be replicated anywhere else. That is what Disney does- it makes you feel like you have left your current world and embarked upon another. They are in the business of making Magic.

There will be one unique destination where you can get a hand-built, customized lightsaber and the masters of this shop will teach you the ways of the Jedi. Where else can you get this type of experience? Answer: Only at Disney!

In summary

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is going to live up to the hype- it will be like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. We cannot wait to book our next trip to Disney so that we can fully experience the newest attraction that is set to be – OUT OF THIS WORLD.
